Wild Roots Farm Organic Garlic

Wild Roots Farm is proud to offer two delicious strains of garlic organically grown on our farm in the Catskills of New York. Both are "hardneck" varieties which are free of the tiny inner cloves found on some types of garlic. Our garlic bulbs measure from 2 to 3 inches in diameter and have large, easy to peel cloves. There are about 5 to 8 bulbs per pound. If kept in a cool dry place, our garlic will keep through the winter.

German Red is a "Rocambole" type of garlic. Preferred by chefs, this type has a deep, full-bodied flavor. Our German Red variety averages 7 to 12 cloves per bulb and has a strong, hot, spicy flavor. The cloves are a light brown with a faint tinge of purple at the base. $7/pound

Catskill Continental garlic is of the "Porcelain" type. Although still rare in North America, this type is increasing in popularity. Most bulbs contain between 3 and 6 very large buff-colored cloves. Catskill Continental has an outstanding, hot and lively flavor. $7/pound
