What's Happening On The Farm?

Everything is growing fast in this August heat! The corn has grown past the top of our heads and is nearing harvest. The winter squash patch is a solid mass of vines. The cukes keep coming and as you may have notices the zucchinis are prolific! However we don't want to overwhelm you with summer squash. Send us a note and tell us what you like/dislike. We love feedback.

What's New This Week?

  • roma beans (flat Italian: Amy's favorite)
  • carrots
  • cucumbers—(peel, seed & chop cukes, put in 1 cup of yogurt, add dill, ½ lemon juice, garlic, salt and pepper. Good dip or sauce for sandwiches.)
  • summer squash
  • cilantro (Regina, this years intern, made a delicious pesto with cilantro, garlic, lime & olive oil. We spread it over free range, grilled chicken—definitely worth a try ... follow other pesto recipes making substitutions.)
  • lettuce
  • broccoli
  • cabbage (coleslaw)

Additionally, Family Share:

  • raddichio
  • cauliflower

Next week: bok choi, frisée, hopefully a taste of the first tomatoes, and fresh thyme.
